New Features (Kasimir Gabert on 2007-06-11 14:07:09)
- After a long time with no new updates, I have finally been able to get a few new features into this site.
The search form has been updated with dynamic elements and AJAX so that it will no longer take so long to load the initial form, and it will have the same functionality. This should make searching possible on slow internet connections, whereas previously it was not. I am sorry for all of the problems with search for so long, but they should be fixed now.
There is also a new field for each picture, "Comments". Any other comments or information about the picture that did not have a place to be put can now be put there. It will not show up by default if there is no comment on a picture.
Let me know if there are any problems with these updates, by submitting a comment.
Also, please continue to help out Police Worldwide by submitting pictures. Thanks!

EXIF Data implemented (Peter Gabert on 2006-01-08 10:43:01)
- All newly submitted pictures will now come with EXIF data when available (if uploaded with a digital camera). This information includes aspects of the camera used, such as the camera type, the camera model, how the picture was taken, etc. This feature is only present on the newly submitted pictures, because when the old pictures were submitted our way of verifying and resizing the pictures deleted the EXIF data.

RSS Feed Added (Kasimir Gabert on 2006-01-06 16:56:14)
- Police Worldwide now has a RSS 2.0 feed which will allow people who have a RSS Aggregator (Firefox and Thunderbird work) to view the latest pictures. You can learn more about RSS here and here.
The RSS link can be found here.

All of the old pictures are uploaded! (Kasimir Gabert on 2005-12-31 17:43:33)
- All of the pictures from the old Police Worldwide have now been added to the database! We now have 2688 pictures, although not all of them are from the old website.
We still need more and more pictures. It would be awesome if everyone could upload as many pictures as they can to help out this website.
This site is going to continue to grow. We will be adding more new features, and are now going to actively work on the different language versions of the website. We thank you for your patience.
Please upload as many pictures as you can!

All Pictures Uploaded Delayed (Kasimir Gabert on 2005-12-25 10:11:23)
- We were planning on having every police picture from the old website up by today, but unfortunately that has not happened. We did not expect NYPD (which is now complete) to have as many pictures as it did, nor a few other countries.
We are most definitely going to have every picture from the old website up by New Years, and most probably before then.
We thank you for you consideration, and are working at a frantic pace to get all of the pictures uploaded. We are very sorry for this delay.
Thank you and a have Happy Holidays!

Compressed Viewing Mode Available (Peter Gabert on 2005-12-20 16:36:36)
- Kasimir has updated the Gallery, adding a new function. We decided that, as we inputed more and more countries, that the list was just getting too long. So, we made a commpressed mode to view all the countries. This looks alot more like Gerard's old site, and we hope you like it more. By Christmas we will be completly done with submitting the old pictures from Gerard old site.
We can always use more pictures, so please upload as many pictures as you can.

Searching is now functional (Kasimir Gabert on 2005-12-16 20:38:24)
- Searching is now completely functional in Internet Explorer.
Searching was not working for a while because IE is not compatible with the standard 'onclick' attribute if it is connected with the 'option' tag inside of a 'select'. I had to resort to using the 'select's 'onchange' attribute, and having it call the function to bring up the new list of areas using 'function(this.options[this.selectedIndex].value'.
This problem exists solely because of Internet Explorer's lack of adhering to the standards. I would definitely recommend all of the Internet Explorer users to switch to something a little bit more compliant with standards, such as Mozilla Firefox.

Picture count updated (Kasimir Gabert on 2005-12-15 15:52:39)
- It turns out that there was a flaw in the code behind the picture count. It would cause the new item count to grow to seemingly random numbers, and it caused the total count to include deleted files. This problem has now been fixed. Unfortunately, we now only have 990 pictures. Please submit your pictures!

Searching not fully functional with IE (Kasimir Gabert on 2005-12-14 22:07:18)
- I am terribly sorry, but I did not use IE (Internet Explorer) when trying out the searching feature. Today, as I did try the searching feature out on IE, it did not work (The DHTML is not working properly with IE's lack of abiding by the standard, set up by the World Wide Web Consortium). So, if you want to try out searching today, download a web browser that does fit the Internet standard (I recommend the Firefox web browser) or wait a few days and I will have figured out how to bypass IE's flaw. I am very sorry for any disruption this has caused.

Police Worldwide Closing in on Completion (Kasimir Gabert on 2005-12-13 21:56:31)
- Police Worldwide has reached a benchmark, and is nearing completion. Police Worldwide now has one thousand pictures, and there is also a new way to find the picture that you want, searching.
We do not have all of the pictures that are from the old website uploaded yet, but we have about half of them. Thanks to everybody who has uploaded to the new website!
Searching through the database is now currently available.
The French and German parts of the website will be coming out in a matter of weeks, with the help of Gerard Donnelly. I thank you all for your patience with us in this matter.
We hope that you all enjoy this website, and if you have any questions or comments about it we would love to hear from you.

Welcome! (Kasimir, Peter, and Solomon Gabert on 2005-12-05 10:00:00)
- Welcome to the updated site of Police Worldwide. As you can see, this website has
undergone some extensive remodeling. This website is now in new hands, the hands
of Kasimir Gabert, Solomon Gabert, and Peter Gabert. We are three brothers, and
from here on we will be taking over all of the aspects of the website. We would
like to thank Gerard Donnelly for keeping such a good site for so long, and
building up such a wonderful base.
Not all of the pictures form the old website are currently available. Pictures are currently being submitted, and we will hopefully have all of the old pictues up soon. Thank you for your patience.
There are many new aspects of this website. Each picture comes in three different
sizes. Instead of emailing comments and pictures, you can now submit them through
our website, and we will email you back thanking you. There is now also meta data
attached to each picture, so when you submit a picture you also submit a date
taken, a location, and of course your name. We have added a seach feature for the
photo gallery, so you can search for different photographers, different car types,
etc. Police Worldwide also now comes in three languages: English, French, and
German. However, we have not had time to complete all of the languages, so the French and German part of the website will be coming out soon.
It would be great if everybody could submit as many photos as they can. The more
pictures that are submited, the better this site will become.
Please help us out!
